What Do We Know About Polyphasic Sleep?

Woman sleepingLike many people I love to sleep, so whenever I heard about polyphasic sleep patterns I was intrigued and wanted to learn more. 

Polyphasic sleep is when you sleep in several short "shifts" instead of one long sleeping session like most people are used to. 

It sounds pretty inviting to get to sleep more often throughout the day and one would think that it would result in more productivity, but is it really better? 

This video by SciShow takes a look at several studies that have taken aim at this hypothesis and the results are pretty eye opening.
