When we think about animals of the distant past, the first thing that comes to the minds of many people are dinosaurs. 

Dinosaurs are kind of hard to miss because of their great size and impact upon the planet during their heyday. 

Reptiles, like the dinosaurs, ruled the planet for millions of years but it all occurred during the Mesozoic era.
