Will We Ever Reach A Limit To Athletic World Records?

Competitive swimmersWith only a few exceptions, the modern Olympic Games have been held every 4 years since 1894. 

Along with all of those games, a whole lot of athletic world records have been both set and broken. 

Some of the competitions have been going on since the beginning of the games and now they have long standing records that are extremely hard to beat. 

Is there a limit to these records? Is there some point where the human body just can not possibly get any better than the previous record holder?
