Illustration of a particle collisionYou may have heard of the atom smashing Large Hadron Collider (LHC) that is located on the border of Switzerland and France.

It is a 27 kilometer (16.8 mile) long underground particle collider that is operated by CERN (European Council for Nuclear Research).

We often hear about it on the news and from our conspiracy theory obsessed friends, but what exactly does it do and how does it work?

This video by DNews takes us inside of the LHC and gives us a breakdown of what it is doing and how it operates.

What do you think about the LHC? Is it good for our future or is it a waste of money or even dangerous? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
