Why Is It Normal To Stretch Every Morning?

Large Cat PandiculatingHave you ever noticed that whenever you wake up in the morning that one of the first things that you do is yawn and stretch? 

You have also probably noticed peoples pets, such as cats and dogs, doing the exact same thing when they wake up. 

You are not alone. As it turns out, most mammals yawn and stretch upon waking and it is scientifically known as 'pandiculation'. 

Researchers think they may know the reason for this strange instinctive behavior, so I will let Hank Green tell us all about it in this short video by SciShow.
