Where Did Our Moon Come From?

Illustration of the moon formingEven though the moon is the only other heavenly body that humans have physically visited, there is still a whole lot that we don't know about it.

One of those unanswered questions is where exactly did the moon come from?

There are lots of theories ranging from it being captured by earth's gravity during the early formation of the solar system to giant planetoids crashing into Earth and ejecting matter into space that eventually coalesced into the moon we know today.

Now we can add another theory to the pile of theories floating around out there.

This video by DNews explores this new theory and how it might fit in to the history of our solar system.
