IllustrationThe Palaeozoic Era was a time before flowers, mammals, birds and crocodiles, but it was home to a lizard-like mammal named Dimetrodon.

Dimetrodon had a distinctive sail on its back and a lizard-like appearance and is commonly used when describing the well-known creatures of the Palaeozoic Era.

As it turns out, we humans have a lot more in common with this strange looking animal than you would think at first glance.

Check out this PBS Eons video to learn more about this fascinating creature and how it relates to us as humans.
