Is Everyone Related To Each Other?

Since we know that all things must start somewhere, does that mean that all humans are distantly related to each other through a common ancestor? 

If it were possible to trace our family lineage all the way down to the very first human then we could easily see how we are related, but our distant ancestors did not leave us any clues so we have to use math and science to figure it out.
