Breaking A Steel Rod In Slow Motion

Broken steel beamThe Slow Mo Guys, Gav and Dan, head to Purdue University to get their latest slow motion footage. 

At the University they will use a machine to break a piece of #11 grade 60 steel rebar, which is 1.5 inches thick, by stretching it. 

This particular machine can stretch with 220,000 lbs of pulling force, so it should be able to handle the job with catastrophic results.
