These 3 Wasps Will Do Anything To Survive

Josh Welch

An emerald cockroach wasp or jewel wasp (Ampulex compressa)I live in a rural area on the banks of a large lake in East Texas, so I have a whole lot of experience with insects and with wasps, in particular.

Every spring and summer I have to battle the wasps as they attempt to build their nests on every horizontal surface they can find.

Fortunately I have not ever had to deal with the three crazy wasps featured in this interesting, but creepy, SciShow video.

Imagine a wasp that controls the minds of cockroaches, or one that rips off its own wings and antenna just to reproduce!

Check out the video below to learn more about these nutty wasps and don't forget to leave me a comment with your thoughts!
